Delightful, tangy, citrus aroma. Dozens of limes are needed to produce ½ ounce of oil. Two types of lime oil are commonly sold: distilled and cold-pressed. Distilled oil is pale yellow or clear in color with a perfumey-fruity, limeade aroma. Pressed oil, which we offer, is yellowish to green in color, with a rich, fresh, lime peel aroma. While pressed lime oil is produced in smaller quantities and is more expensive than distilled lime oil, it is preferred in aromatherapy. Niaouli oil has a slightly sweet fresh smell and its color varies from colorless to pale yellow and greenish. This large evergreen tree is native to Australia, New Caledonia and the French Pacific Islands.
It has a flexible trunk, spongy bark, pointed linear leaves and spikes of sessile yellowish flowers. Because the falling leaves covering the ground act as a strong disinfectant, it makes for a healthy environment, and it also purifies water. It was assigned its botanical name in 1788 during Captain Cook's voyage. Niaouli oil was used in French hospital obstetric wards because of its antiseptic properties and is still a popular ingredient of toothpaste and mouth sprays.

Although essential oils can be used to the great benefit of your general health, it must always be kept in mind that they are potent compounds. There are also some that should not be used on the body in massage therapy nor ever ingested because of their high oral and dermal toxicity.
First Aid Measures
Eye Exposure: Flush with copious amounts of MILK for at least 15 minutes and seek medical advice if symptoms persist. Ingestion: Rinse mouth with MILK and seek medical attention.
Handling and Storage
Handling: Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling. Respect good personal hygiene. For use with oil vapourisers. Can be used in massage. Always mix with carrier oil before applying to the skin. Never apply to inflamed or broken skin. Do not use neat on skin. Do not take internally. If pregnant seek medical advice or practising aromatherapist before using.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sunlight. Always use original containers. Avoid contact with polished surfaces, plastic. KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN.
Spillage: Clean any spillage with an absorbent material (kitchen roll).
