Do It Yourself

Make Your Own Aches & Pains Balm

You will need a total of 3.5 ounces of oil and 1/2 ounce of beeswax. If an oil says “optional” beside it, it can be omitted if needed, to simplify the recipe. Just sub out with more arnica/comfrey oil.

  • .5 ounces of Violet Leaf Infused Olive Oil (optional)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Castor Oil (hexane free) (optional)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Ginger Root Infused Oil (optional, helps circulation)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Meadowfoam Seed Oil (optional, but helps the ingredients absorb into the skin better)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Tamanu Oil (highly recommended that you not omit this)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Rosehip Seed Oil (optional)
  • Enough Arnica Flower & Comfrey Leaf Infused Olive Oil to make 3.5 ounces oil total when combined with the other oils above.
  • 1/2 ounce beeswax
  • 20 drops of carrot seed essential oil (optional)
  • 40 drops lavender essential oil (optional, but recommended)
  • several drops of Blue Chamomile Essential Oil (optional)
  • 140 drops (about 1/2 bottle) of Tei Fu Essential Oil Blend

Mix the infused oils, castor oil, meadowfoam seed oil, tamanu oil, rosehip seed oil, and beeswax in a glass, heat-proof pitcher or jar and set in a pan of lightly simmering water until beeswax melts. Remove from heat and add carrot seed essential oil, lavender essential oil, blue chamomile essential oil and Tei Fu Essential Oil Blend. Pour into small jars or tins or a small jelly jar and cap immediately to ensure essential oils don’t evaporate out. Let cool and use wherever/whenever you have aches, pains, bruises, varicose veins, headache, muscle strain, etc.

Please note: Each person is unique in their situation and body makeup and metabolism. While I did careful research to ensure that none of these ingredients would interact with any of the meds that my dad is on, that does not mean that they are safe for you. Check with a qualified medical professional if you have any questions or concerns about use of this product, especially if you are elderly, pregnant, nursing or on any medication. However, keep in mind that nature given remedies have a much better track record than the FDA and their cohorts, the pharmaceutical companies, as far as adverse reactions and recalls.

Hopefully, a few of you can use this recipe, or one like it, to bless someone you love with a balm to help ease a bit of their aches and pains. (P.S. But don’t forget to save some for yourself!)
